There was huge excitement despite the rain at the Royal Parks Half Marathon last weekend and my blog this week is dedicated to thanking the 45 runners who took part. In total, more than £10,000 was raised for our main appeals.

These brave runners included every age and ability but with the goal of supporting the Charity – the funds raised will help us buy organ care systems to support Harefield's world-class Transplant Programme as well support the development of a digital platform to help with the treatment of people with cystic fibrosis so they can live more independent lives.

But back to our runners. Top left is my daughter Sophie pictured with our very own Fundraising Director, Ashley Westpfel. Special thanks go to so many people including Dr Nick Simmonds who raised a staggering £2,210, to Professor Claire Hogg and Simon Padley who not only ran and raised a huge amount of money themselves but encouraged their clinical teams to run too.  To Tom, who felt his knee go at the 8th mile but didn’t let that stop him getting to the end, and so many other brilliant stories, including our own Lisa and Rachel in the Charity team.

Pages are still open if you would like to sponsor some of the participants – especially Nick and the Paediatric Team.

I went along to cheer them on which was really was fun. I am a bit hoarse now from all the cheering, but just so proud of these really super people turning out in the rain and raising wonderful amounts for our two world-class hospitals.
