Winter Appeal
Give the gift of hope this winter. Because behind every diagnosis is a family just like yours
Ellie’s story
EVERY 5 MINUTES someone in the UK loses someone to heart and lung disease.
At just a few months old, Ellie’s parents received news she had been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. At two, Ellie underwent open heart surgery to repair it.
This offered her the chance to grow up experiencing life like any other child. Doctors warned as she got older, another surgery would be necessary.
Last November, Ellie underwent her second open heart surgery renewing hope for a healthier future. Recovering with her family that Christmas, Ellie felt inspired by the expert care she had received.
She went on to complete a 100km walking, running and cycling challenge, raising an amazing £2,900 for Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity.
“I want people to see that having multiple surgeries at a young age doesn’t mean you can’t live a full life. Thanks to the doctors’ incredible work, I have the proof of that.”
This winter give hope to patients like Ellie and their families.
