Help us raise money for six new bedrooms in Harefield's Intensive Care Unit to accommodate an extra 250 critically ill patients each year

After a patient receives heart or lung surgery at Harefield Hospital, they are admitted to the Intensive Therapy Unit (also known as an Intensive Care Unit). The Unit is also where patients who are waiting for, or have undergone, transplantation or other surgical interventions stay.

The Unit’s 18 beds are fully occupied most of the time, which can often prove a challenge for accommodating new patients, and can sometimes result in operations being delayed.

What your support will help us to achieve

  • More privacy for patients, as the six new individual bedrooms will have their own dedicated nurses and side rooms
  • Access to fresh air and views over woodland and a wildflower meadow, through a new sun terrace attached to the Unit
  • More capacity – the Unit will be able to accommodate an additional 250 patients a year
  • Reduced waiting times.
