Together we can make it through the Covid-19 crisis

Your generosity is making a real difference to Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals staff who are treating the most severe cases of Covid-19.

Everyone at the Charity wants to say a big thank you for all the funds that have been raised so far. Your fundraising has been amazing. From running marathons in your garden to attending the Great Lockdown Quiz, which was co-hosted by Anneka Rice and Jos Buttler, you've raised funds to support NHS staff on the frontline of the Covid-19 outbreak. We have been blown away by all that you have done.

Your generosity has allowed us to buy:

  • An ECMO machine that will help support the most critically ill patients
  • 35 high spec ventilators, saving many lives
  • Eight hand-held ultrasound scanners that help our clinical staff assess a patient’s heart and lung function
  • Pioneering software to help aid the research into the symptoms of Covid-19.
  • Listening Ear: a programme ensuring that our staff’s mental and physical wellbeing is looked after now and into the future.

Sam’s story

Your support has saved lives like Sam McQueen. On the 22 March, Sam was transferred to Royal Brompton Hospital with severe symptoms of Covid-19. As soon as he arrived at our hospital, he experienced the excellent care our teams afford each and every patient even when working under pressure.

Every step of the way he felt like he was getting stronger, and on the 29 May, 72-year-old Sam was discharged in time to celebrate his son’s birthday.

In this moving video, Sam shares his journey through Covid-19 and his gratitude to the NHS for saving his life.

We still need your help

Your support has been incredible, but the pandemic is not over yet. We are past the peak and the number of Covid-19 cases is falling, but our staff are still caring for many very sick patients.

Our courageous staff still need your help to keep fighting Covid-19. The outbreak is not over yet, but together we can make it through the crisis.

"Our staff have really appreciated the gifts that have been coming through. They feel that their impossibly hard work is being recognised and valued by the wider public – it’s such a boost for them."

Joy Godden, Director of Nursing and Clinical Governance, Royal Brompton Hospital
