Our Charity has a very carefully managed property portfolio which generates income, much of which we give directly to our two hospitals to support ambitious research programmes, the thriving and energetic Arts team and bursaries for training, as well as other projects. At this time of year, this income also plays a special part as it pays for festive meals for several of our NHS colleagues, patients and their families on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. This small gesture is welcomed and the Charity is pleased to do something to brighten up this time of year.

As I walk home from work, more Christmas trees and decorations are appearing in shops and glimpses through homes and tiny front gardens. The Charity team receives lots of messages at this time of year (and often donations too) from patients who like to celebrate being given a new lease of life after treatment at Royal Brompton or Harefield Hospitals. Our merchandise does well too at this time of year, especially with a super range of Christmas cards - do take a peak!

We are counting down to our two Carol Concerts. This Thursday is our Harefield Carols by Candlelight which starts from 7pm. It will take your mind off the election and remind you that there are plenty of other things going on at this time of year.

We are so thrilled to have sold well over 500 tickets for our Royal Brompton Carols by Candlelight at St Luke's Church, Chelsea on Wednesday December 18 from 6.30pm - though we will be opening our doors a bit earlier as we have so many wonderful colleagues, donors, supporters, locals, friends, families coming. With Zoë Wanamaker as our star guest, and the Church looking as beautiful as ever, and wonderful choirs... it's going to be a truly memorable evening. There are still some tickets left though they are still being bought but if you would like to come, now is the time to buy and I would be so pleased to see you there.
