We had 19 entries this year in the Great Brompton Bake and raised over £600 for Transforming Your Care.

On Thursday 19 September supporters of the Charity and hospital staff entered their best bakes to win the famed Great Brompton Bake Off. Beautifully decorated cakes, scrumptious brownies and delicious cookies were all in the running to win.

We were delighted to have the brilliant Pippa Kent (@nowwhatcanieat on Instagram) help us judge the winners. Pippa is a cystic fibrosis patient at Royal Brompton Hospital and runs her very own cooking blog, the perfect person to taste the yummy treats! After diligently trying all 19 entries, Pippa submitted her scores and Charity CEO Gill Raikes announced the winners.

First prize went to Kenny from Multiplex who entered the dark chocolate and salted caramel cake. Kenny won a class of his choice for two at Divertimenti Cookery School!

Second prize was awarded to the wonderful Gemma Marsh, Therapy Lead for Paediatrics at Royal Brompton Hospital, for her ‘crabulous’ chocolate cake. Gemma won a gift voucher at The Avenue Cooking School.

Finally, best looking cake went to Malka, winning a voucher for tea for two at Peggy Porchen.

Following judging, all cakes were put up for sale for at £2 a piece with all funds going towards the ‘Transforming Your Care’ Appeal, raising £200,000 to implement an electronic observations system at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. This will automatically alert doctors to a change in a patient’s condition or when intervention is needed, giving nurses more time to spend caring for patients at their bedside.

Thank you to everyone who spent time baking and entering a cake, we couldn’t have done it without you. And thank you to everyone who came to buy a slice, every pound and penny gets us one step closer to our target.

A final thanks to Divertimenti Cookery School, The Avenue Cooking School, Peggy Porschen and Hummingbird Bakery for their generous contributions.
