More than 100 supporters dusted off their dancing shoes last Friday for our second Heart & Soul evening of live jazz, delicious food and ‘non-stop’ dancing at Rickmansworth’s Watersmeet Theatre.

The night raised over £5,000 towards the extension of Harefield’s Intensive Care Unit, which will see a further six beds allow for an extra 250 patients to be treated in the Unit each year.

The fantastic Jazz Goats, an eclectic six-piece band, judged the crowd brilliantly, starting off with some slow soulful beats while the food went down and then raising the tempo to get everyone on the dance floor. Charlotte, on vocals, stole the show with her impeccable dulcet tones, while Harefield’s very own Dr Chris Bowles wowed the crowd on sax.

Our raffle was a huge success, raising £545. Cliff James, a former patient of Harefield Hospital where he received a heart transplant, won the top prize – a British Airways flight simulator experience. Cliff said:

“I am so delighted to have received first prize! I also found out I can take a guest with me so I have one happy son at the moment! It’s great to know the proceeds from the evening will go toward the treatment and care of so many at the amazing Harefield Hospital!”
