On Sunday 24 July friends of Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital will be walking through central London to raise funds to help heart and lung patients.

That’s right, we’re holding the London Bridges Walk again and we hope that you can join us.

As before, the walk will begin at the Morpeth Arms in Westminster and will follow a route through the heart of the capital, crossing six iconic bridges over the Thames. Along the way you will take in Lambeth Palace, the Royal Festival Hall, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern and Royal Brompton and Harefield’s sister hospital St Thomas’.

Eugene Miskelly, who had open heart surgery at Harefield Hospital in 2020, will be taking on the London Bridges Walk this year. He said:

It will be fun to meet other walkers and to help raise awareness and funds for Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity. I suppose I also want to celebrate that I am alive and show no matter how bad things were, there is hope and time can make a huge difference.

Five kilometre, ten kilometre and wheelchair accessible routes are available.

This year the London Bridges Walk is raising funds for our brand new appeal: the Next Generation Genetics appeal. This will provide the hospitals’ genetics and genomics team with the latest equipment to test patients for inherited heart and lung conditions.

Richard Bowyer, Chief Executive of Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity, said: “Everyone at the Charity is very excited about this big fundraising event, which will support the ground-breaking work of the hospitals’ genetics and genomics team. We are constantly inspired by the amazing fundraising from the hospitals’ supporters, and we are hoping this year’s walk will be bigger than ever.”

We hope that you can join us for the London Bridges Walk in July. You can sign up to support the hospitals now:
