Valentina was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries or TGA , a heart condition that requires open heart surgery within the first few days of life. The team of specialists here at the Royal Brompton have done a fantastic and stressful job for Valentina and many more young patients with numerous and severe heart (and other) life threatening conditions. This fundraising activity is in honour of Valentina and all her carers and doctors to help with continued research and efforts to make those affected as well and as comfortable as possible...
Sadly, Valentina’s grandma, my mother, passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly just 19 days after Valentina was born. Thankfully she had met Valentina twice in that time and the teddy bear she gave her has been with her in her cot ever since. An incredibly loving person, Mum was looking forward to many hugs and joyous moments with Valentina, and her other grandchildren and donations to this fund are also in honour of her and her love of family.
