Crafternoons is a rb&hArts initiative offering monthly participatory visual arts workshops to patients, staff and visitors at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.

We are currently looking for 12 different artists/ workshops facilitators to run one off arts or craft sessions as part of our Crafternoons series. We are especially interested in unique arts, crafts and activities that will inspire creativity. If you have an idea for a fun, exciting and inventive participatory visual arts workshop we would love to hear from you.

rb&hArts is the hospital arts programme for Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, the largest specialist heart and lung center in the UK. Over the last 15 years, rb&hArts has established a world-class and highly innovative program of arts based activities.  Designed to improve the wellbeing of patients, visitors and staff, we engage with patients from all over the country with heart and lung disease. rb&hArts manages a permanent art collection and offers year-round participatory arts activities, performances in public areas and wards, temporary exhibitions across the hospitals as well as supporting redevelopment/new build projects.

rb&hArts launched the monthly creative workshop programme, Crafternoons last year. We had an incredibly positive response to the activities on offer and are therefore delighted to announce that we have secured funding from the National Lottery to run the programme for a further 12 months. Thanks to everyone who plays the National Lottery and Awards for All for funding this amazing project.

We are currently looking for 12 different artists to each lead 2 Crafternoon sessions, one session to be held at Harefield Hospital and one at Royal Brompton Hospital on the following day. Each workshop will be divided into two drop-in sessions. The first session will be aimed towards staff, patients and the local community. The second part will concentrate on working with inpatients on the wards. Please take in to account the hospital environment and potential restrictions when planning any activity.

Workshop fee p/day £120, 12 – 4pm. Workshop material costs negotiable.
