It is now two years since my Open Heart Surgery and my Aortic Valve Replacement and thanks to the wonderful work of Dr Raja and the whole Harefield Hospital team and particularly the Harefield Hospital Cardiac Rehab Gym team, who set me on a path of Fitness Exercise by pushing me and passing me on to Shriti at Highgrove Gym, I feel as 'fit as a Butcher's Dog' now-who'd have thought I'd enjoy the Gym??.
Having been given a 'second chance' I fully intend to take it and the Harefield Hospital Fundraising Fun Run on 10 September 2017 is an opportunity to help raise much needed funds to help those like me but more importantly those who are more seriously ill and need Heart and Lung transplants and considerable aftercare.
So, I am going to run a 5k for the first time in over 40 years. I have spent many hours walking on a treadmill but never running- time for change. I started the 'Couch to 5k' this morning and will ensure I run rather than walk the event. I hope those that I ask will support me with some sponsorship, if they feel able to do so.
