As a nurse in the Harefield Hospital intensive care unit, myself and two other critical care nurses have decided to take a jump to raise funds for our incredible trust.

As a group, we have all decided to raise funds for different appeals that are currently ongoing within our hospitals. Being the Harefield transplant appeal and the Cystic Fibrosis appeal. Both appeals are very close and personal for us all.

Sadly in October 2017, I lost one of my best friends to Cystic Fibrosis. Throughout her battle, she wanted to make awareness of CF as she felt there wasn’t enough, so as I work for this incredible trust and see the incredible work they do, I’ve decided to help raise funds for the CF appeal that the Brompton is currently working towards.

Royal Brompton Hospital's CF centre is one of the largest in Europe. It is a world leader in the development of new treatments and has become a model for other units in the UK and Europe.

Cystic fibrosis is a diesease that affects more than 10,000 people in the UK, CF causes a build-up of thick sticky mucus in the lungs, digestive system and other organs, which leads to a range of challenging problems.

The team at the Royal Brompton have been trialling a project that will be valuable to thousands of people with CF, but they need funds for this to develop.

Your support will:

1. Prevent them from having to make disruptive and exhausting hospital visits
2. Enable them to track and respond to changes in their help immediately
3. Help them understand the underlying factors that make their symptoms better or worse
4. Provide digital and medical tools to enable them to check their health whenever, wherever.

I work with CF patients during my day to day life, caring for patients after they’ve had a life saving lung transplant, something Lucy wasn’t able to receive. Lucy is in my thoughts every single day so this appeal is very close to my heart.

Your support could make a massive difference to someone’s life. Together we can make a difference.

Thank you.
