Last Summer I had a double Lung Transplant that saved my life.

From September 10th, I am going to run 5km every day until September 20th, to raise money for the Cath Lab at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

The Cath Lab - or Catheter Lab - is the room in the hospital where they do surgical procedures into your blood vessels. Sounds a bit niche, I know. But this is the room where the amazing Harefield team bypassed my heart and lungs and plumbed me into the ECMO machine that kept me alive for two weeks while I waited for my transplant last year.

It's Organ Donation week, and the hospital is running a fundraiser where 2 virtual teams - Team Heart, and Team Lungs - add up all the miles they run together over the next 2 weeks and see if they can accumulate enough to virtually run a complete circuit of the UK coastline.

So I want to add my running distance to Team Lungs, and while I'm doing it, I need to raise some money for the cause.

In a moment of idiocy, I wondered if I could "Run 5K Every Day" until the end of the Hearts V Lungs team Challenge (which ends September 20th). So I'm going to give it a go on the condition that we raise some money in the process.

Keep an eye on my Facebook page to see proof of each day's run.

So what more do you need to know? Last year Harefield saved my life with a double lung transplant, so I'm forever indebted to them.

Help me repay that debt, even just a little bit - use the button above my photo.

***UPDATE***

I completed my 12 x 5Ks in 12 days on Sunday Sept 20th (the day the Hearts V Lungs challenge was originally ending).
The challenge has been extended, but I'm afraid I'm not going to extend my 5K Everyday for another 2 weeks!
But I am going to keep running, and adding miles to the #TeamLungs total.
And you can still donate of course, look for the button above my photo.

Thanks! Tim van Someren
