It all started in July 2017 when I was diagnosed with a total heart failure (viral induced Cardiomyopathy).
I went from diagnosis to needing urgent heart transplant.
While I was waiting for an organ to become available, my condition deteriorated and in order to save my life, I had a Left Ventricular Assist Device (L-VAD) (artificial heart) implant on 22nd November 2017.
I spent a month in intensive care and was discharged on 17th January 2018 having spent a total of 7 months in hospital.

While being treated for an infection in my L-VAD, I had multiple strokes, bleeding in my brain and blood clot in my brain. Following medical investigation, it was discovered that my natural heart had miraculously recovered!
I was in hospital from January to April 2019 during which an unsuccessful attempt was made to explant my L-VAD due to severe internal bleeding from my lungs. The team worked extra hard to save my life. I was in intensive care for 3 weeks.

Thankfully, on 31 July 2019, I had a successful operation to remove my artificial heart (L-VAD). My natural heart is pumping great! I give God all the glory!!

In 2020, my anticoagulant was stopped by my medical team. I developed blood clots and brain haemorrhage which resulted in a massive stroke (Ischemic stroke) on 17th February 2021. I will not go into great details about my stroke and treatment received. In a nutshell, I lost function with my left side (left side paralysed), lost my speech, cognition, memory etc and everything else was slowly parking up. My condition was so bad that I had a DNR order posted on my medical care plan. A do-not-resuscitate order, or DNR order, is a medical order written by a doctor. It instructs health care providers not to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) if a patient's breathing stops or if the patient's heart stops beating. My family were advised to prepare for the worst which the medical team said could happen in 5 days.
However, when God is in absolute control of your life, and with intercessory prayers by family and friends, God shows up with perfect intervention, super deliverance. God restored what was lost!

I am back to my normal ‘personality’ but still on the painstaking recovery journey. I am thankful.

In order to preempt a DNR, I had an ICD implant as a precautionary measure in February 2022. I have continued to receive specialist care and treatment from Harefield Hospital Heart Failure / Device / Transplant Team (one of the best in Europe).

Please help me support the hospital that saved my life. Please donate to Harefield Hospital Transplant programme in order to save more lives.
