I am Vasilis Panoulas one of the interventional consultant cardiologists at Harefield hospital. I am trying to raise some money for the new radial lounge in Harefield Hospital for patients requiring angiogram and stents in their heart. The radial lounge is a relatively new concept, where patients coming for procedures do not get admitted in a ward but rather in a nice environment with comfortable reclinable chairs. The reason being is that their procedure can be undertaken through an artery from the wrist, hence recovery is much faster and they do not require to stay in a hospital bed post procedure. All these patients should be able to go home, approximately 3-4 h post procedure. The whole point of the radial lounge is to improve patient experience for those requiring elective angiograms and stents usually for the treatment of angina (chest pains).
