On 26th May 1996 my husband, Keith, was blessed to receive a donated heart, which he was lucky enough to have transplanted in to him by Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub.

He was given a life expectancy of 5 years. Through shear stubbornness, strength, determination, and the support of the hospital staff at Harefield, we were blessed with 24 years together as a family.

Over those 24 years Keith was able to enjoy many holidays abroad with his family, his favourite foods, watching his favourite football team (Come on you reds!), and got to enjoy seeing his sons grow up and build their lives. This included seeing his two beautiful granddaughters come into this world, who became the apples of his eye.

Without the team at Harefield, the advanced technology, techniques they use and their world famous expertise we would not have had this extra time with Keith, which we are forever grateful to them for.

Our wish is that others that are in our situation, are also able to benefit from this incredible establishment who took us under their wing all those years ago, and carried us as if we were family.
