As most of you know, Eve had a double lung transplant at Harefield Hospital last year. As a result of many complications including Sepsis and two Cardiac Arrests, she spent 3 months being cared for in ITU. Now she has recovered so well, we would love to give something back as a thank you for all the care she received on this ward.

To do this, at the end of September, seven cyclists of mixed ability levels are descending on the Pyrenees for 3 days in the high mountains, taking on some of the most feared climbs in the Tour de France. There are 2 routes, the easier route still contains 6,000 metres (18,000 ft) of vertical ascent including the Col du Tourmalet and Col d'Aubisbue. The hard route contains over 10,400 metres (32,000 ft) of climbing in just 150 miles, comfortably more than the height of Mt Everest.

It's sure to be an epic, incredibly difficult, but rewarding ride. As Octave Lapize yelled to the organisers of the Tour de France when he crossed the Col d'Aubisque for the first time "Vous êtes des assassins! Oui, des assassins!"
