The sun shone on our Harefield Fun Run in more ways than just the good weather. We exceeded our numbers as more and more runners, walkers, friends and family poured through the gates of Harefield. But nothing daunted our fabulous volunteers so the day worked like clockwork.

So many people to thank but in particular, I would like to thank Sky Silverstone who is a brilliant master (mistress?) of ceremonies, introducing everyone and giving a lovely sunny feel to the whole day. Sky is a really special supporter of our Fun Run – and how she fits everything in is a wonder… a presenter on Harefield Radio, also on live TV not to mention a fitness and weights trainer. Thank you, Sky for helping to make our day a success.

Our two main sponsors, Kier and Vinci Facilities were generous with their support which meant that pretty much every £ raised by our super runners and walkers could go directly to help the hospital. Sugi’s Anbu’s Army numbered over 50 taking part – what a star you are Sugi. To all our volunteers, the Scouts and Cadets who gave up their Sunday to come and support – a huge thank you. To all of you who came, thank you – you have given a massive boost to our fund to buy state-of-the-art technology for our nurses to monitor their patients leading to huge savings in time and even greater patient safety.

Well done to the Charity team – Sal, Raf, Ashley and Paige – it was a great day. The team was joined by the Charity’s newest colleague Kelvin Walker who is our top finance man – great to see you joining with the team, Kelvin.

And now our attention turns to our Great (Royal) Brompton Bake Off…. Thursday 19th September 12. - 2.  This is an event with a surprise around every corner, from the sticky to the sophisticated, from the sweet (in every sense) to the bizarre – our cakes, cupcakes, and biscuits would have pride of place in any patisserie.  Will you come and join us? Bring a cake to be judged and then sold in aid of the Charity or just turn up with your purse and wallet and feast your eyes and your tummy on some scrumptious goodies. Well done Charlotte for organising what I know will be a great success and then we very sadly bid farewell to you as you go on to pastures new…. But I am sure we will stay in touch.
