Mother and daughter fundraising duo, Kate and Kezzia, have completed a Bournemouth to London lorry drive to honour husband and dad, Darryl McDougal, who passed away before he could receive a new heart

The pair have so far raised a fantastic £1,081 to support patients at Harefield Hospital – over double their target.

Before he died, Darryl had encouraged Kate to fulfil a long-time ambition to get a lorry license. Kate promised their daughter Kezzia that she would lead a convoy from Bournemouth to Harefield in his name to present a generous cheque.

On completing the monster fundraiser, which saw two huge lorries – lent for the day by Bournemouth transport company AET – pull up outside the hospital on Saturday 24 March, Kate said:

We had an amazing day – more than we could have imagined. To have a Doctor Bowles and Nurse Chrissie join us at the end was wonderful.

Kezzia's memories of Harefield are now happy ones. She is still buzzing from the experience. As for the money donated, everyone has been so generous. To have over £200 given on the day was so special and unexpected. I cannot thank everyone enough. I made that promise and I kept it.

A huge well done and thank you to Kate and Kezzia for their stellar fundraising efforts and adding a truly unique fundraiser to our repertoire!
