This May I will be taking the challenge of walking the Surrey Three Peaks all in aid for a cause close to my heart. Ruben's Fund was set up by my friend after she lost her son in January 2022. He was only 3 1/2 months old, and suffered with dilated cardiomyopathy (a heart that enlarges to try and pump blood round the body, as it is not able to efficiently and effectively do this). Since losing Ruben, Charlotte and Patrick set up a fund to support research into genetic cardiomyopathy - which occurs in too many, and still very little is know. They have endeavored to raise £200,000 to set up this research and to date, have raised £174,000, in two years!! This helped her win the London Pride Of Britain Award last year, and we are all so proud of her dedication, and achievements to date.

I want to help them move towards their next milestone of £180,000, so will be taking on the marathon walk of Surrey Three Peaks! 24 miles of three unappealing peaks across Surrey. For those that know me, you will appreciate this will be a challenge for me, but will be confident that I have enough chat for 8 hours of walking!

Anything you can contribute to help would be greatly appreciated, and know that all money donated is going to support this research. Thanks for your support. Darren Hamilton
