To our Family and Friends,

It is with extreme sadness and with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, dad and grandad, Rod Montgomery.

Dad sadly passed away on Monday 23rd November 2020 @ 11:44.

Dad fought a bloody good fight; he was a true fighter and his passing was not expected and has come as a shock to us all.

In 2012, Dad was diagnosed with COPD in the form of emphysema and pulmonary fibrosis; whilst we were told this was a terminal illness, all was not bleak. In 2016 he successfully had a double lung transplant at Harefield hospital. This amazing procedure would give him a better quality of life and gave us four extra years.

Sadly transplant patients are more susceptible to cancer and in 2018 Dad’s battle with this terrible disease began.

Dad began chemotherapy on Wednesday 18th November 2020 and as always he was determined to fight. Four days after his treatment, his health suddenly deteriorated and in less than 24 hours he passed away 💔

We take comfort knowing that Dad died peacefully and that we were by his side with his sister/our auntie, Maureen in his final hours.

May you rest in eternal peace Dad 🕊
