A friend, sadly lost her son, Ruben, at just 3 and half months old due to dilated cardiomyopathy. As a mother, this is an unimaginable situation to be in, and I will do all that I can to support her goal of helping others by supporting research. It is also closely linked to me, as my brother [Maureen to insert].

So this July I will be taking on a 10 mile walk from Caterham to Reigate, helping her to work towards their next milestone of £130,000.

Ruben's Fund is raising money to enable the team at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals to set up a dedicated research project, which will provide valuable knowledge into genetic cardiomyopathy, which effects 1 in 100,000 babies, to better treat and manage this condition.

Thank you for your support.
