We had a busy and successful December that I want to reflect on in my blog – thank you to all of you who bought raffle tickets, came to our Carol Concerts, supported our gift wrapping and ran in our Santa Dash.

We also embarked on a new venture for the Charity when we set up our crowdfunding appeal, Happy Little Hearts, to help us raise money to buy Royal Brompton's Paediatric Intensive Care Unity (PICU) a second incubator to treat premature babies with a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Here at Royal Brompton, babies can have life-saving treatment as opposed to the invasive surgical alternative. At present, we only have one such incubator, but with a second, more babies can be treated in this way. When we lose referrals, these tiny babies have to go elsewhere and have major surgery.

We didn't quite hit our crowdfunding target. But undaunted we will carry on fundraising for this specialist piece of equipment as we know it will make a huge difference to very sick babies and their families.  If you would like to know more, please click here and pass it on as widely as possible.

And just to illustrate how those tiny contributions can add up to a big life-changing amount... As you can see, the December activities were not huge – no big parties, no mass challenges…. And yet, though small sums, the Charity raised nearly £30k. So never think your donation is too modest if you give what you can. And together, yours and other donations can save a little life.
