There are many days when this job doesn't feel like work at all, and the Harefield Fun Run was one of those days. We were blessed with wonderful weather and a great many participants who came with family and friends.

With dancing, Singing for Breathing, magic displays and the ever favourite tug of war, the actual run might have been eclipsed if it hadn't been for the runners, walkers and the four-legged companions - many of which were also sporting the Harefield Fun Run T-shirt.

Well done and thank you to the great many of you who took part and helped us to raise over £33,000 for the Harefield Transplant Appeal.

Congratulations to the many colleagues who entered our Brompton Bake Off, especially Gemma Marsh who was crowned Star Baker. A staggering £600 was raised!

I want to finish my blog by turning your attention to the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 14 October where supporters and clinicians will run alongside each other to raise funds for our Cystic Fibrosis Appeal, which will give people with CF the chance to lead more independent lives.

Some weeks to go until the big day so I know training is in full swing. My daughter, Sophie, is running, as are members of the Charity team, Marketing & Communications Manager, Rachel Cresswell and Director of Fundraising, Ashley Westpfel.

Our very own Dr Nick Simmonds, consultant respiratory physician at Royal Brompton, and Professor Claire Hogg and Royal Brompton's Paediatrics Team (pictured left) will also be taking part. By supporting our #PurpleHeartArmy and giving to their fundraising pages, you will help us improve the lives of hundreds of people with cystic fibrosis.

If you feel inspired to take part in one of our upcoming events, you can see what we have coming up here
