You may know Amy Price as the mother of model and media personality Katie Price, but you may not know that she is also a patient at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. Amy suffers from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) a condition where the lungs develop scarring and breathing becomes increasingly difficult, for which she has received treatment at both hospitals.

On Thursday 6 July, Amy published The Last Word, a book about her life, her daughter’s rise to fame and her struggle with IPF. Amy is very generously sharing a third of the profits from this insightful tell-all book with the hospitals that treated her. So far over £10,000 has been donated.

The publisher described the book as a “raw and unflinching memoir written as Amy battled a terminal illness, and offers a deeply personal and no holds barred account of her daughter Katie Price’s life.” Amy said:

This book is my opportunity to tell the whole truth about my life, my family, and my eldest daughter Kate. Battling terminal illness and fast-approaching death, I wanted to tell the truth about me and my family. I’m also so pleased to be able to support the charities that have supported me through the last five years.

Alongside Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, profits from The Last Word will also support Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis and St Barnabas House hospice in Worthing.

Thank you so much, Amy, for giving back to patients, so that others can receive the same world-class care.

The Last Word was published on 6 July in hardback, eBook and audiobook and can be found on Amazon and in all good bookshops.
