Charity takes part in Give as you Live - an easy and free way for supporters to raise free funds for their favourite charity through grocery shopping

We are delighted to be involved with the popular Give as you Live initiative, an award-winning fundraising platform that enables the public to raise free funds for our charity, simply by grocery shopping in-store with a reloadable card. A percentage of every purchase made with any of the stores is donated to charity, without costing the charity or the shopper a penny extra.

So far, the scheme has helped raise £8,977,493 for UK charities, and we hope that Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity’s many supporters may consider getting involved this Christmas time.

How does it work?

Shoppers who’d like to be a part of the scheme can sign up for free on their computer, mobile or tablet device, and browse through the grocery cards on offer.

Shoppers can then choose the supermarket they usually shop at, and complete their order using their debit card to buy the card with their chosen amount loaded onto it. Within two working days a shiny new grocery store card will arrive in the post.

Shoppers can then hit the aisles in their chosen supermarket and use their new store card as the payment method. They can still use their Advantage, Sparks, Clubcard or MyWaitrose card to gain loyalty points. A till receipt will tell shoppers their remaining balance after each shop.

Cardholders can then revisit the Give as you Live site and login to their account, selecting their store card and adding more funds to continue shopping while donating at no extra cost to them.

The initiative is being championed by one of our very special donors, Geoffrey Squire OBE. Mr Squires has supported the charity immensely over the years, and is Chair of the Board of Everyclick, which provides online fundraising tools such as Give as you Live for UK charities.
