On Sunday 14 October, 35 supporters braved the rain to take part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon.

Our #PurpleHeartArmy pounded the pavements of London to complete the 13.1-mile route through London's most beautiful parks, taking in some of the capital's most celebrated sights.

Over £21,000 was raised, an astounding amount that will directly benefit patients with heart and lung disease at our hospitals.

Those taking part included Hospital staff, members of the Charity team and of course, our fantastic fundraisers.

Royal Brompton's Professor Claire Hogg and the Paediatrics Team, and Dr Nick Simmonds raised funds for our Cystic Fibrosis Appeal, to improve the lives of people with cystic fibrosis through the development of a digital platform, 'CF Future Care'.

Sara Simpson, a self-confessed 'rubbish runner' who was cared for by Royal Brompton, took part (and did absolutely brilliantly!) to say thank you for the world-class treatment she received. Thanking those who donated, Sara said, "We are blown away by how kind you have been and know that the hospital will put the money to good use, helping people get their lives back as they did with me"

Thank you to our amazing #PurpleHeartArmy.
