What does model and businesswoman Katie Price have in common with surgical pioneer Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub? Well, here’s one thing: they will both be at Harefield Hospital on Sunday 10th September to support the 40th Harefield Fun Run.

Magdi has a long history of association with the hospital, where he pioneered transplantation. In 1983, the hospital was the location of the UK’s first combined heart and lung transplant, which he carried out. He was also the founder of the Fun Run, raising money to support the hospital, and founding a tradition that has been repeated almost every year since.

Katie also has a link to Harefield Hospital, through her mother Amy who has talked about her life-saving treatment there. Amy was the recipient of a lung transplant in 2022 and has written a book about her experience. As a Charity, we are delighted to benefit from some of the income from Amy’s story.

As well as being a landmark Fun Run this year, the cause is more important then ever. Every penny raised will go to our Harefield Haemodialysis Appeal, transforming the treatment options for transplant patients with kidney problems.

We are greatly appreciative of the support from Katie, Magdi and their families and look forward to seeing them – and many other friends of Harefield Hospital – on 10th September.

Thank you for your support, now and always.

Richard
