The 40th Anniversary was truly spectacular, featuring Professor Sir Magdi Yaqooub kicking off the race, and Amy Price presenting the awards

What an incredible day it was! The sun radiated its warmth on one of the hottest summer days, where the Harefield Hospital community came together for a fun run through the breath-taking Harefield countryside. This year marked a remarkable turnout, a testament to the passion the Harefield community, patients and their families have for this hospital, with over 650 runners and walkers participating and overall, more than 1,000 attendees.

Our supporters followed the scenic Grand Union Canal, passing by the friendly Coy Carp pub, before crossing the canal at Springwell Lock and returning to the hospital for the exhilarating final stretch towards the finish line.

Rafaella Notarianni, Community Fundraiser – Harefield, said: 

 A really hot day but a really fantastic day. Our numbers are looking amazing. Everyone is having fun, hope to see you all next year!

After crossing the finish line, families and friends enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere at the Family Day. The hospital grounds came alive with a variety of stalls. Papa Gee's ice cream offered sweet treats to help everyone cool down. Fizzy Bathroom Heaven enchanted us with bubble magic and handmade bath bombs. Amy’s Amazing Faces added a burst of colour with her incredible face art. 

Ruby, one of the attendees, said:

Today was so great, my favourite stall was the face paint. I can’t wait for next year!

Stephen Jones left us spellbound with his close-up magic tricks. The Bungee Trampoline kept the kids active and bouncing all day, and Angela's Knits showcased beautiful handmade gifts and crafts. It was a day filled with fun and creativity for all!

Angela Wesley, from Angela's Knits, whose son received a double lung transplant at Harefield Hospital, described the day as: 

  A really good event, lovely atmosphere and absolutely love seeing the dinosaurs.

The Winners of the 40th Harefield Fun Run had their trophies awarded by Amy Price 

Hamsters Cup | awarded to the participant with the most recent transplant. 

Albany Suarez – Albany received a double lung transplant on 5th October 2019

Professor Magdi Yacoub Shield | awarded to the individual who has raised the most money.

Gary Frith - raised an incredible £693

Re-Beat Club Cup | awarded to the team who has raised the most money. 

Ricky’s Angels - raised an incredible £2,315

Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity Cup | awarded to the largest team entry.  

Congratulations Ricky’s Angels who had a whopping 34 members taking part!

 Rhys Merritt, from Harefield Candle Company, said: 

I’ve been here last year and it’s really well organised, everyone seems to have a great day which is really good.

The event raised over £50,000 for the Harefield Haemodialysis appeal. The funds will go towards providing Harefield Hospital with six new haemodialysis machines, for one transplant ward and the intensive care ward at Harefield Hospital, which will cut the treatment time for patients who need dialysis down to four hours and will allow it to be delivered during the day.
