rb&hArts has been awarded a grant from National Lottery’s Awards for All, to support 12 months of their Crafternoons programme.

Delivered through Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity, rb&hArts raises additional funds to deliver a programme that increases levels of wellbeing and improves the healthcare environment through the arts.

Through consultation and published research, we know that inpatients are often at risk of anxiety, depression, social isolation, loneliness and boredom, which can further exacerbate recovery.

To address this, the Crafternoons bring artists, volunteers and inpatients together to learn new skills in a series of creative workshops. Through creating and making together, conversations and relationships of trust should emerge to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Activities include origami, weaving, knitting, and painting. Throughout the year rb&hArts provide 96 hours of workshop activities, reaching up to 500 people.

As a result, they are now seeking new workshop facilitators for the programme. To find out more or apply, click here.
