Join our march against NHS England plans to shut vital services at Royal Brompton We’re inviting Royal Brompton patients, staff and supporters to take to the streets of Kensington and Chelsea on Saturday 18 March as part of the first public demonstration against NHS England’s plans to decommission congenital heart disease (CHD) services at the Trust. We’ve teamed up with two other charities associated with Royal Brompton Hospital, to organise the demonstration, which will begin at 10.30am at Dovehouse Green. The two-kilometre route will take in the Sydney and Fulham wings of the hospital as well as two of London’s busiest and most famous streets: Fulham Road and the King’s Road. Volunteers will provide refreshments at the start and end, and it is expected that some of the charities’ celebrity supporters will join the march. Key media have been invited to cover the event. Campaign badges and stickers are already available from the Charity Hub, next to the coffee shop at Royal Brompton. Demonstrators are being encouraged to wear red, and official T-shirts and banners will be available from the charities nearer the time. Our Chief Executive, Gill Raikes, said: “This will be the first opportunity for staff and patients, past and present, to gather together and show en mass that these ridiculous plans do not have the support of patients and clinicians that NHS England has claimed.” If you would like to join the march, please register online.
