This is Kate, with her dad and brother

Kate decided to take on the Brownsea Island Swim, a 6.5km sea swim around Brownsea Island in Dorset, after her Dad was treated at Royal Brompton Hospital.

“Five years ago my Dad died at the age of 68.  He had suffered for several years from a rare combination of lung diseases and Pulmonary Hypertension, but his sudden death was unexpected and totally devastating.  During his life Dad was cared for by two amazing teams at the Royal Brompton Hospital.  I want to raise money now in Dad's memory, specifically for these two departments, to help other patients like him in the hope that life for people with these very debilitating and incurable diseases can be lengthened and improved, and ultimately, that cures can be found.

This is a huge challenge!  Dad's family lived for many years opposite Brownsea, at Sandbanks, so it is a special place that holds very happy memories for me of Dad and the fun we had there.”

 Kate raised a fantastic £1,078.33
